Eliya’s Exhilarating Reading Adventure Project!

In English class we had to choose a book that we had never read before. While reading the book we had to take notes like the main events or different conflicts. This amazing book,“A Wolf Called Wander”, is about a wolf named Swift. He was the fastest pup in his litter. He was always trying to be the best over his brother but no matter how hard he tried his brother Sharp was always stronger and bigger. When it was time for all the pups to have their first hunt, Swift,  got chosen to turn the elk and his brother Sharp was chosen to take down the hunt. When their mother had another litter of pups they were so happy and excited to be with them they didn’t hear the enemy  pack approaching. The enemy pack was larger but they still battled for their home land and thankfully Swift got away. Than the real story starts Swift goes on an incredible journey trying to find his home land he has many encounters with different animals and humans not all  of the encounters were safe or good. But after about  three lonely and hard months he ends his journey at a new set of mountains where he meets a female wolf and they have pups and they make a home for themselves. What this book taught me witch I also think is  also the theme is that home is where you make it where you feel good and safe with people you love.

Than we had to make an artifact connecting to our book. The options were Mock YouTube Channel , Call to Action, Children’s Book, Its Objective, Podcast, Board Game/Card Game, Webpage, or Photo Essay. I chose to make a board game. I chose to make a board game because my entire book is a wolf traveling and having an adventure to find his home so I thought that would be a perfect game and the goal would be to get to the new home land. What I choose to put in my game from my book is the main conflicts, all the stuff he eats, the animals he meets and the experiences he had. I included all of those because I had to fill the board and the board has 45 squares so I had a lot of space to put in  these things.  If I was doing this project again I would probably read the book twice because as soon as we got the project I read the whole book that day so maybe next time I will take my time.

What game contains

  1. One board

  2. One set of move cards

  3. 3 wolf players made of clay

What the pieces mean

  • The mountains mean start and finish

  • The trees and blank spaces mean nothing

  • The squares were you get adventure points ( one for each square) are

  1. The bandaged square

  2. Whenever it says eat

  3. If you meet something

  4. If you “have pups” you get 3 points everything else is one point

  5. having conversation

  • The squares were you get sent backwards two spaces (thats a bad thing) are

  1. Land on Attack

  2. Land on Get Kicked

  3. Land on gun

  4. Raven leaves

  5. The road

  6. The fire

P.S if you land on one of these and you have to go backwards but then you land on another one you have to go backwards again and again till you land on something that is not a go backwards square.

The objective of the game is to get to the New home land first with at least three adventure points.

How to play

At the beginning of your turn you pick up a move card and move forward the amount that the card says. Then if you land on a point square or a go backwards square you get to do that and then your turn ends.  When you move, since the boad is a spiral make sure to  follow the arrows.

How to win

To win you must be the first to make it to the home land with at least 5 points.

The winner

If you win you get to open the top secret envelope and do what it says make sure to read both papers and don’t let anyone see what’s inside. I repeat any one sees what’s inside and don’t tell anyone of course If you do I will know. ( I’m watching you)

Here are the pictures

Thank you for reading (not listening, it’s a blog post)!
